The Ron Paul 2008 Republican Presidential nomination campaign has inspired hope in many people. To date however we supporters have often been marginalized as angry. Some of that may be unfair but if we are honest much of it is fair criticism. Many of our actions are calls for other people to do something -- cover his positions on issues more fairly, stop impugning supporters, cover the campaign itself more fairly, etc. The angry part is nailed down. Now it is time for the courage part. To stop fretting about what others may think or do. To take matters into our own hands.

The purpose of GOPrising is to provide us with one opportunity to change things. To get off the fence, get inside the GOP tent, and change things from the inside. To do so in a way that motivates us to do small things (tell our family/friends). That encourages us that by doing those small things we will accomplish big things.

The secondary purpose of GOPrising is to show the GOP that we are expanding the base of the party with our energy, creativity, skills. That this movement is larger than the Presidential candidate we support. That we, Ron Paul Republicans, adhere to and can re-energize the base of the GOP and the American people by returning to the core Republican principles that many politicians in DC seem to have forgotten about. There are many in the GOP who welcome an energized grassroots because without it local governance can't work.

The third purpose of GOPrising is to leverage our social networks in order to mobilize locally, brainstorm solutions to local problems, and support other Ron Paul Republicans. Our personal social networks are far more powerful than all the top-down polling/media/consulting in the world. Together, we can scare Congress and DC into respecting the Constitution.
